Electronics Hardware Design Engineer

Overview

The role is for a Full-time engineer and you will be reporting directly to the Technical Manager and your main responsibilities will include automated test system design and development. Your technical input will require you to have a good level of understanding of electronics hardware and firmware.

In order for your application to be considered, you’ll need to have experience and enthusiasm in the following areas: –

  • Digital and Analogue Electronic circuits
  • Embedded Software development
  • Using 16/32-bit Microcontrollers (PICS / MSP430 / Cortex)
  • A good, working knowledge of using Op Amp Circuits, Oscillator Circuits
  • Good understanding of Low Noise design techniques.
  • Conceptual design & prototyping
  • Experience with using Analogue to Digital converters (ADC’s), 16/24-bit types
  • A good understanding of the key principles of automation
  • Experience with using Schematic Capture & PCB layout tools
  • Championing initiatives that will reduce the carbon costs on our planet
  • Working within and collaborating with the team

Educational & Personal Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s (including English/Math/Physics)
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent HNC/HND,
  • A keen and responsible attitude to work and an ability to show initiative in all responsibilities and tasks
  • Good time management skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good numeracy, accuracy, attention to detail
  • The ability to follow through a task to its successful conclusion
  • The ability to learn and absorb new information

Responsibilities:

  • Design of electronic/electrical equipment
  • Ability to write software in C/C++
  • Test report writing
  • Assembly of electronic/electrical prototypes
  • Wiring of electrical assemblies
  • Specification & purchasing of components
  • Managing individual projects
  • Producing Bill of Materials (BOMs) and cost projects, and assemblies
  • Design for manufacture
  • Writing of technical literature

You will get the opportunity to be involved in small and manageable projects for the company. Training will also be provided as part of your learning journey, from concept and specification, design through prototyping and testing in preparation for manufacture. A keen and responsible attitude to work and an ability to show initiative in all responsibilities and tasks.
